Brazilian Adventure

The above sample tailor-made Brazil holiday concentrates on the best of southern Brazil combining Rio de Janeiro and the mesmerizing Iguazu Falls with some wildlife spotting in the Pantanal. The tour ends with a few days relaxation in the attractive Costa Verde, making this one of our most popular itineraries.

Highlights: Rio de Janeiro – Iguazu Falls – The Pantanal –  Costa Verde

Please contact us if you would like to extend the itinerary to Chapada dos Veadeiros, Diamantina, the Amazon or the North East. If you are not really a beach person you may prefer to stay at Paraty rather than the Costa Verde.  We book a range of accommodation from standard three star posadas (inns) to  five star luxury boutique hotels.

Day 1

Rio de Janeiro

You will be met at the airport and driven to your hotel.

They call Rio de Janeiro 'cidade maravilhosa', the marvellous city. Rio has the most spectacular setting of all the South American gateways and should be on everyone's wish list.

The twin peaks of Sugarloaf and Corcovado with its famous statue of Christ dominate the landscape but the beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon are the life and soul of the city during the day, the bars and restaurants come into their own at sunset and the nightclubs keep the samba rhythms beating through the night.

Day 2

Rio de Janeiro

Full day tour to Sugarloaf and to Corcovado.

Visitors may be interested to hear that people were travelling to the top of Corcovado for the fantastic views long before the Statue of Christ was erected in 1931 (with lighting by Marconi).

Day 3

Rio de Janeiro

Free day in Rio de Janeiro.

Please let us know if you are interested in any particular activities or excursions such as a tour of the Maracana stadium or a visit to the Museu Imperial at Petropolis. We can also arrange a visit to a samba school or cooking lessons or you might be interested in visiting a ballet school in one of the favelas which is supported by the Latin America travel industry via the LATA Foundation.

Days 4-7

Fly to Cuiaba or Campo Grande and transfer to your lodge in the northern or southern Pantanal. This will become your base for photographic safaris and wildlife excursions.

The wildlife varies according to the season and migration pattern but blue macaws, toucans, egrets and parrots are likely to be sees as well as capybara and South American caiman.

If you wish to take the Pantanal train to Miranda please let us know.

Your last night is likely to be at a hotel in Campo Grande or in Cuiaba before flying out.

Day 8

Iguazu Falls

Fly to Iguazu and transfer to your hotel. One of the great wonders of the natural world, the Iguassu Falls (also referred to as Iguassu and Iguaçu) are a must for the first-time visitor to Brazil or Argentina and should be seen from both sides.

If you are staying at the fabulous Belmond Hotel Das Cataratas (formerly Orient Express) you can step out of the property and walk directly down the pathways on the Brazilian side of the falls. If you are staying elsewhere and would like us to book a guided tour of the we would be delighted to do so.

Day 9
