Brazilian Adventure

The above sample tailor-made Brazil holiday concentrates on the best of southern Brazil combining Rio de Janeiro and the mesmerizing Iguazu Falls with some wildlife spotting in the Pantanal. The tour ends with a few days relaxation in the attractive Costa Verde, making this one of our most popular itineraries.

Highlights: Rio de Janeiro – Iguazu Falls – The Pantanal –  Costa Verde

Please contact us if you would like to extend the itinerary to Chapada dos Veadeiros, Diamantina, the Amazon or the North East. If you are not really a beach person you may prefer to stay at Paraty rather than the Costa Verde.  We book a range of accommodation from standard three star posadas (inns) to  five star luxury boutique hotels.

DAY 1:

Arrive into Rio, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Rio de Janeiro is a city which should be on everyone’s wish list and is the most spectacular setting in all of South America. The twin peaks of Sugarloaf and Corcovado with its famous statue of Christ dominate the landscape but the beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon are the life and soul during the day, the bars and restaurants come into their own at sunset and the nightclubs keep the samba rhythms beating through the night.

DAY 2:

Full day tour to Sugarloaf Mountain and to Corcovado. Visitors may be interested to hear that people were travelling to the top of Corcovado for the fantastic views long before the Statue of Christ was erected in 1931 and might like to know that the first person to climb Sugarloaf was a British woman, two hundred years ago in 1815 and she carried the Union Flag, as you do. Today you can still see people climbing Sugarloaf though we prefer to take the cable car, flags not required.

DAY 3:

Day at leisure in Rio de Janeiro. Please let us know if you are interested in any particular activities or excursions, such as a tour of the Maracana stadium, a visit to Petropolis once the summer capital of Rio, a visit to a samba school, a culinary experience or perhaps a visit to a ballet school in one of the favelas which is supported by the Latin America travel industry via the LATA Foundation.

DAY 4:

Transfer to the domestic airport in time for your flight from Rio de Janeiro to Cuiaba or Campo Grande. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your lodge located in the northern or southern Pantanal – the choice is yours! Your Pantanal lodge will become your base for photographic safaris and wildlife discovery and any additional excursions.

DAYS 5-7:

Days to explore the Pantanal. The wildlife varies according to the season and migration pattern but blue macaws, toucans, egrets and parrots are likely to be sees as well as capybara and South American caiman. Further option to take the Pantanal train to Miranda.

DAY 8:

Fly to Iguazu – One of the great wonders of the natural world and a must for the first-time visitor to Brazil. Stay at the fabulous Belmond Hotel Das Cataratas, where you can step out of the property and walk directly down the pathways on the Brazilian side of the falls.

DAY 9:

Half day tour to the Argentine side of the Falls. If you would like us to include an excursion to the Itaipu Dam, which provides hydro-electric power to Paraguay and the whole of Southern Brazil, please let us know.

DAY 10:

Transfer to the airport in time for your flight to Rio de Janeiro where you will be met and driven to your hotel in Angra dos Reis. If you would prefer to stay elsewhere, for example in Buzios or Paraty then please let us know.

DAYS 11-13:

Days at leisure in Angra dos Reis to relax and unwind on the beach.

DAY 14:

Transfer to Rio airport in time to check-in for your flight home or further afield.
